Astrid's family was not vegetarian, which led her to do research online. She began by removing red meats from her diet, then chicken and fish. However, the latter, for nutritional reasons, had to be reintroduced into her usual meals, now considering herself an pescatarian vegetarian.
After three years of following a fully vegetarian diet, she began to feel much better physically. She lost weight and her skin also improved; she looked rejuvenated. Despite the benefits she experienced, she admits that the hardest part about her change was facing the prejudices of family and friends, as they did not share her views on this type of eating.
They constantly approached her, asking why she decided to change red meats, what she replaced proteins with, and of course, there were those who talked about the importance of consuming meat for our health.
Changing your diet drastically overnight is not easy. However, Astrid offers a piece of advice to those who wish to try a different kind of food: they should gradually and progressively reduce the consumption of products and foods of animal origin.
In the first few weeks, you can eat some protein twice at most. Then, if you start eliminating red meats entirely, followed by chicken, then fish, eggs, and finally dairy products and any other foods of animal origin.
