Venezuelan Creole Pabellón

Ingredients

250 grams of Beans

1 Small onion

1 Small green bell pepper

1 Small red bell pepper

3 Garlic cloves

1 Organic vegetable broth cube

1 Bay leaf

Cumin

1 cup of Brown rice

3 cups of Water

1 teaspoon of Salt

2 Ripe plantains

1 tablespoon of Brown sugar

1 pinch of Ground clove

4 tablespoons of Olive oil

2 cups of Water

Soy strips

1 pinch of Salt

Preparation

Step 1 : Wash the vegetables and cut them into very small pieces for the black beans.

Step 2 : Sauté them for a few minutes in a pot with olive oil, then add the black beans and cover with water.

Step 3 : Let it boil with the bay leaf, cumin, paprika, and a pinch of salt.

Step 4 : Simmer on low heat for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the beans are tender.

Step 5 : For the rice, pour one cup of brown rice into a pot and cover with three cups of hot water.

Step 6 : Let it boil until soft, which will take about 30 to 40 minutes.

Step 7 : Add salt to taste.

Step 8 : For the sweet plantains, cut two ripe plantains into pieces or slices.

Step 9 : In a skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil (or sunflower), 2 tablespoons of whole brown sugar, and a pinch of salt.

Step 10 : Stir well and add the plantain pieces.

Step 11 : Brown them over medium heat, carefully avoiding burning, until golden and fried all over.

Step 12 : Add a pinch of clove, a pinch of cinnamon, and two cups of water, along with 2 or 3 tablespoons of additional brown sugar.

Step 13 : Let it boil covered until the plantains are soft and the liquid has caramelized.

Step 14 : For the shredded beef, sauté the chosen vegetable beef in a skillet until golden and hot.

Step 15 : Serve by elegantly arranging the different preparations: beans, rice (brown or white), fried or caramelized plantains, and shredded beef.
